Membership InformationEligibilityNFG began in 1980 as an informal network of funders with a deep interest in community-based grantmaking. Since then, our membership has expanded to include hundreds of grantmaking professionals. Representatives from institutions whose primary activity is grantmaking are welcome to join. Our members include private and community foundations, family foundations, corporate foundations and giving programs, religious giving programs, public foundations, and other grantmaking institutions. NFG members are as diverse as the communities they serve. They work in every part of the nation, in both urban and rural settings. The organizations that members fund represent many different racial and ethnic groups and a wide variety of program approaches.
BenefitsNFG Members enjoy many valuable benefits: A nationwide network of funding professionals. NFG’s online directory includes profiles and contact information for every member. Search by name, organization, state, or area of expertise to find colleagues who have agreed to serve as resources. It's easy to network and find peer support. Cutting-edge programs. NFG hosts national conferences and regional meetings each year on the most important issues facing neighborhood grantmakers. We also organize special events in collaboration with other funding groups. Timely publications. The NFG Reports newsletter keeps members up to date on trends and success stories in the community grantmaking field. Members also receive monthly mailings focusing on community development issues. Professional development opportunities. NFG offers workshops on key topics such as community economic development, housing, community organizing, and public policy changes that affect grantmaking. A forum on community development practices and trends. Members count on NFG for authoritative publications, case studies, and reports on current issues. Public policy updates. NFG keeps members informed about public policy changes that influence their work. Most importantly, affiliation with NFG provides access to a network of creative grantmakers interested in sharing their experiences and perspectives.
