On Friday, June 12, 2015, more than 70 funders gathered together at The Atlantic Philanthropies to coordinate and mobilize resources in support of organizing in response to ongoing events of police brutality and state sanctioned violence faced by communities of color across the country. The Neighborhood Funders Group, ABFE: Partnership with Black Communities, the Unitarian Universalist Veatch Program at Shelter Rock, and the Ford Foundation co-hosted the gathering under the Funders for Justice umbrella. The goal of this meeting was to identify concrete action steps towards mobilizing and coordinating funding and other donor organizing resources for police accountability and racial justice in the next year (2015-2016). Participants collectively committed to mobilize millions of dollars in grantmaking and donor organizing from their institutions. A curated list of tweets from the event is below.
